Description

Encourage thoughtful independent reading with our Reading Response Letters for both literary and informational texts! These letters guide students in reflecting on what they read, enhancing reading comprehension and critical thinking. Perfect for classroom assignments and developing deeper engagement with texts.

Writing back and forth, I formed a special ‘reading bond’ with my students. From these letters, I knew their likes, dislikes, struggles, and tendencies as readers. I was able to recommend certain books for them, help them identify their ‘just-right’ book level, and I could encourage them to think more deeply about the text they were reading.

This resource includes all the materials and tips you need to implement reading response letters in your classroom. Included in this resource…

I’m excited to start using these with my fifth graders after Christmas Break. I wish we could have started at the beginning of the year, but better late than never. I like that Catherine provides info on all the modeling needed before setting the students loose. I have been looking for something to get us talking about independent reading now that we are all in!

How do I access my downloads?

Right after you check out, your download links are on the order confirmation page, and your receipt email has the same links. Don’t see the email? Check your spam or promotions folder.

You can also grab your files anytime: log in and go to My Account > Downloads.

My download is a .zip file. How do I open it?

Each resource downloads as a .zip folder that holds all of its files.

  • iPhone or iPad: open the Files app, find the zip in Downloads, and tap it. It unzips into a folder you can open.
  • Mac: double-click the zip.
  • Windows: right-click the zip and choose Extract All.
My file won’t open or shows a file-path error.

This usually happens on Windows when the files are unzipped inside the Downloads folder, because the folder path gets too long. Move the zip to your Desktop, then right-click it and choose Extract All.

Still stuck? Reach out and I’ll help.

Do I need an account?

No, you can check out without signing up. An account is created for you automatically with the email you use at checkout, and you’ll get an email to set your password. If you already have an account, your order is added to it.
