Description
Spark creativity in young writers with our Narrative Writing in 1st Grade resource! This set includes storytelling writing lessons and organizers designed to help students develop their narrative writing skills through explicit writing instruction, mentor texts, time spent writing, and students sharing their writing.
Using a workshop model, students have opportunities for direction instruction, writing time (with conferring), and sharing their writing each day. This familiar routine keeps me focused on incremental growth and is predictable for students.
The materials in this resource are comprehensive and include what you would need for at least four weeks of writing instruction. Each mini-lesson includes teacher talk and ideas for using the accompanying materials with students. Graphic organizers, anchor charts, writing prompts, and students samples are included throughout. There is no way you will use (or want to use) all of the materials included. For some of the mini-lessons, you may choose to create a class anchor chart or have students brainstorm on sticky notes. Other times, you will find the individual student materials helpful. I have offered a variety of resources and options because I know all of our classrooms and students are different. Pick and choose what works best for you!
