On Tuesday our Desk Fairy flew in and knew she had to step-up her game. Oh my! Our desks looked terrible. There were papers EVERYWHERE! She left just-right Scholastic Books on desks of those friends who’ve made the effort to keep their space clean and organized. There was some significant jealously and desk-cleaning when my friends walked in!
One afternoon eacg month one of the 14 elementary schools in our district opens their doors for a Teacher Open House. They are THE most interesting, inspiration-filled, community-building afternoons of the month. These are pictures from 4 different classrooms where I saw Teachers Pay Teachers in action. The Kinder team at the school this week is transitioning to Kickin’ It in Kindergarten’s BUILD math centers and were SO excited!
This week our school received classroom-sets of Cuisenaire Rods, and we have been exploring with them ALL week – addition, subtraction, part/part/whole, and fact families. With my highest group of friends, we started considering how to create equal sums with different numbers using a scale. It was the perfect, hands-on way to begin our number study!
