Hi, friends! So summer is upon us, and I
am continuously in the process of collecting supplies for my classroom. The
other day I snagged a 10 drawer cart from Sam’s for $24!!!! But, a few weeks
ago, I got an even better deal. Classroom Friendly Supplies offered to send me one of
those oh-so-cool-and-quiet-and-excellent pencil sharpeners for FREE in return
for an honest review. So, after a few weeks of using it, let me introduce you
to Leo the Pencil Sharpener! (Please excuse his open mouth…he’s terribly embarrassed) (Why did I name him? Well,
I name most things in my life…my
bell-pepper plant was Mascato, my lily is Charlotte, my GPS is Olivia, etc.)

So, here are the 9 verbs of Leo’s life.
Step 1: Admire
Your new sharpener is aesthetically
pleasing (in green, black, blue, or red), so take a few minutes to enjoy it.

Step 2: Squeeze & Pull
Now, let’s get to work. Squeeze the
black knobs together while pulling them out from the sharpener. The silver
frame will be approximately 2 inches from the body of the sharpener.

Step 3: Place
Place your Number 2 pencil (and nothing
else…not colored pencils or other
numbered pencils) in the hole in the silver frame and into the sharpener while
squeezing the black knobs. Once the pencil is in place, release the knobs.

Step 4: Turn
Support the sharpener with one hand on
its top and then, turn the handle.

Step 5: Wait
Wait patiently as the sharpener does
its sharpening thing. When it is finished, it lets you know by the silver frame
thing coming in and all sharpening sounds stop….I know really scientific, but I have NO idea how to describe this.

Step 6: Inspect
Is your pencil capable of gouging out a
person’s eye? If so, it’s fully sharpened. No joke. (Note – This is possibly a
concern for me. How sharper is too sharp for a pencil?)

Step 7: Gloat
Wow! Wow! Wow! You sharpen a few more
pencils and write with their brand new points to discover they do not break or
leave a graphite trail!?!?! Oh happy day. 🙂 Commence the gloating.

Step 8: Empty
After all of your teammates are jealous
of your sharpener, slide out the clear plastic container that catches the
pencil remains (not sure what to call these), empty the container into the
trash can, and return the collector.

Well friends, that’s it – the
9 verbs of pencil sharpening! You may ask – Is it the quietest pencil sharpener
ever? And I would answer….I am not so
sure. It definitely is quieter than any electric sharpener that I have heard,
but it still generates noise. I mean, I
wouldn’t be willing to put in near my guided reading table. Granted – I cannot
remember a pencil sharpener that was quieter, though, so am I really just not
sure. So, there…a not-really answer to
your question. 🙂

This post was adorable! I love the unique take you took on the review! Leo is too cute! I agree with the quietest thing. I was expecting silence. However, it definitely is quieter than those noise power drill sounding ones.

Thanks, Ashley! I am so excited for your giveaway. Headed over in a few minutes to enter myself – woohoo. 🙂
Kelly says
It is a terrific pencil sharpener, but I do agree, it sharpens the pencils extremely sharp. I got poked in the leg with one (accidentally) and it went in about 1/4 inch and hurt like everything, but the pencil did not break!
