My First Stitch Fix

You all know I {love} book shopping….like more than milk chocolate and diet coke on Mondays. It’s true. My great love for book shopping, though, is not transferable to other types of shopping such as clothes shopping. In fact, it’s one of the reasons I love living in a town without any major department stores or shopping centers. Zlich. Nada. Zero, I tell you.
So, after reading about Stitch Fix, I knew it was something right up my ally. Now, I might not love, or even like shopping, but I love wearing things that make me feel and look like a fun-loving, twenty-something teacher. 🙂 So last month, I took 5 minutes to create an account on Stitch Fix and filled out the personalized style profile (including outfits I love, favorite Pinterest boards, my IG account), and scheduled my fix!
I opened my first fix and was greet with glimpse of these treasures. Eeeekkk! Aren’t they pretty????
My box arrived after a long evening of grading On Demand essays. I did not make it home until 8:30 and this was the perfect pick-me-up. 🙂
With a pop of coral on top, I could tell that Annie (the stylist who put my fix together) had taken the time to look my my “Styles I Love” Pinterest board! Not only did she write a note about having a child in 5th grade (woohoo for 5th grade) there were SO many reminders throughout the box that Annie was channeling me. 🙂
Each piece was accompanied with a styling card. As a visual learner, these cards were perfect for me and really let me imagine was the piece would look like to pieces I already own – jeans, sweaters, flats, etc.!

My favorite combo of the box was this blue Aztec print sundress with the navy sundrop necklace. The dress was right up my ally (but about 4 inches long for my very short legs, though), and the necklace is something I would have never picked out…but I saw it and fell in love! I have zero pieces of jewelry that I would consider statement pieces, but I couldn’t resist this treasure. It will pair perfectly with a solid-colored blouse or a little black dress. Regardless, it’s so different and it makes me grin….making it a definite keep. 😉

The 3rd piece was a sheer navy blouse with a tan heart print perfect for a dress-down Friday or a causal Saturday/ When I first lifted it from the box, I was nervous. I see shear and I immediately think “Well, I can’t wear this to school” but thankfully it has a built-in navy camisole (without a bra….score!). These looser blouses are really popular now, and I have slowly warmed up to this trend…but this blouse was a little too loose for my tastes…next time!

The last piece was a strapless black and white dress with a yellow belt. The yellow belt was a perfect pop of color, and the dress actually fit perfectly (woohoo!). Black/white aren’t really my colors. I am a PALEFACE (yep, it’s true), and this dress totally washed me out. Adorable dress for some tan beauty, but that tan beauty isn’t me. 😉

Well, for a first fix, I was thrilled! Plus, after I tried everything on, I went online and told Annie how it all fit and what I thought of it (too big on the shoulders, too long in the chest, not quite my color), so my next fix will be just perfect! 🙂 Since I did keep the necklace, they took my $20 styling fee and charged it towards the necklace..making it a steal – ha!

I hope you can tell I’m pleased with my first fix. I was able to try on clothes from the comfort of my home, saw some beautiful things, and scored a fantastic necklace! 🙂 Plus, all of the finishing touches Stitch Fix added (the presentation, the ‘wrapped’ clothes, the outfit ‘playing’ cards, a personalized note) made my teacher heart oh-so-happy. 🙂

Now, I would be remiss if I didn’t ask – do you use Stitch Fix? If so, leave a link to your last fix. I want to see!  If you don’t use Stitch Fix yet, are you tempted to try Stitch Fix for yourself? If so, it’s a simple process – all you do is sign up, complete a style profile today, and schedule your first fix. If you use my referral link to sign up (included throughout this post) I receive a credit when your first fix is shipped. My next fix is scheduled for March 21st (only a few days before my birthday), and I can’t wait to see what it holds! 🙂

I have wanted to try it, but I don't understand the pricing! I guess I should research more! Ha! The clothes always look adorable, and it sounds so effortless and fun!

Hi Kristin! So, you pay a $20 styling fee each month. If you like anything in the box and want to purchase it, the $20 fee is put towards your purchase. In terms of the price range on the clothes, you can tell Stitch Fix what you're comfortable with! 🙂

April is SO far away, Molly! 🙂 I am really excited about the monthly subscription. I'm sure at some point, I won't want it every month, but right now, with a little extra income from TPT, it's just right. 🙂

I just had my first fix too. Wrote about it last night. I love your pieces, but understand your decisions. I had a cute white sweater that was too revealing for 5th grade. I kept 2 items and cannot wait for my next fix!

I also just got my first StitchFix box. Even though I only kept 1 of the 5 items, I still feel like it was a successful 'fix.' I also live in a semi-rural area that is about an hour from the closest mall. I don't like spending so much time wandering around, spending money on mall food, and maybe only finding 1 or 2 items for all that trouble. Bringing it right to my door is exactly what I need. Loved your items.
