Personalized Bookmarks – Monday Made It

Happy everything, friends! It’s 8 o’clock on a Sunday night, and that means in 90 minutes, I’ll be snoozing. In my new teacher life that is about as late as I can make it!

I just wanted to quickly stop to link up with Tara’s Monday Made It. So this year in 5th grade, we are all reading 40 books! Three weeks in and my 30 kiddos are 72 books in to our 1,200 book goal. I am SO proud of their progress and their excitement for reading. This is what our lives look like…isn’t it great?!?

For the first 3 weeks, we have been using post-its as bookmarks, but my kids have started asking for “cool” bookmarks. But really, they ask daily for real bookmarks “You know, Ms. W – the ones that are shiny and have cool colors on the front.” This weekend I have had time to get my head above water and feel ‘on top’ of life, so… I got down to book-mark making. 🙂

Of course because we are in 5th grade and ‘BIG’ kids, they could not be cute. They have to be ‘cool’. Using KG’s Second Chances font, I was able to make a simple, yet eye-catching front that I think my kids will love. They will feel all grown-up. Since I made the fronts ‘cool’ for them, I added a little something on the back for me – reading strategy stems! Since we are writing weekly reading response letters , I am hoping these prompts will help my kids’ juices flow. 🙂

I have uploaded an editable file toTPT, so that you can make bookmarks for your own kiddos! Click here or the picture below to grab the file. 🙂 Also, make sure to check out all the other Monday Made It projects that Tara is highlighting!

Happy week of teaching, friends!

Those bookmarks are so cute…I mean "cool"! And I like how you added the reading strategies to the back. Sneaky, sneaky! I'm going to have to download them and make them for my kiddos, too. Thanks for the freebie!
